They went out and proclaimed everywhere, while the Lord worked with them and confirmed the word through the accompanying signs. – Mark 16:20

The Lord worked with them!

We are not alone. God is with us. It is most obvious when the signs Jesus mentioned accompany our ministry. That is because you know that you cannot heal anyone. When people are healed, set free from demons, or there are other miracles happening, God is showing up and confirming the message—and His messenger.

I don’t know about you, but just the word healing used to conjure up images of a fabulous showman, or maybe even a charlatan. I hadn’t seen God heal many people. It wasn’t part of my ministry or training. I was a preacher, but healing wasn’t what we did. We believed that God had stopped doing that kind of stuff.

Then I began to see all of the times in the New Testament when Jesus or Paul said that these types of things would accompany true preaching and ministry. It made me hungry. I became desperate for more of God. I didn’t want to excuse my lack of His presence and power with some theological wrangling. If Jesus and Paul meant it, I wanted my ministry to reflect it. I wanted to STOP PLAYING GAMES!

I personally spent the next 3 years on my face, in God’s Word, and without a ministry position or title. I couldn’t just keep doing the same thing. I wanted the Lord to work with me, and for my ministry to reflect His.

I still do.
