The following night the Lord stood near Paul and said, “Have courage, for just as you have testified about me in Jerusalem, so you must also testify in Rome.” – Acts 23:11
THE LORD STOOD NEAR PAUL.
Did you miss that when you read it? Read it again.
THE LORD STOOD NEAR PAUL. How is that for a good night hug from God? How would you like for God to stand near you tonight? I’m game!
Was Paul speaking figuratively or literally? I believe that it was absolutely literal. I am not sure if Paul meant a physical manifestation of God, a vision, or just the supernatural tangible presence of God. Does it really matter? Either way, God spoke to him and comforted him.
Sometimes life throws some rotten curveballs at us. I faced the death of my son, and I saw Jesus in that hospital room. I have had friends abandon me and slander me, and I have had the manifest presence of God to comfort me and speak to me His love and affirmation. I was fired by a pastor who didn’t like the anointing that was operating in my life—and I felt the presence and provision of God, and experienced comforting words and visions.
Do you need for the Lord to stand near you? He is, and He does. Learn to hear God’s voice and to see visions. Many people say things like, “I imagined Jesus holding me or standing near me,”—when it wasn’t their imagination, at all! They don’t realize that they were seeing a vision.
LORD, STAND NEAR ME I PRAY, TONIGHT. STAND NEAR MY KIDS AND MY WIFE.
