“But Stephen, full of the Holy Spirit, looked intently toward heaven and saw the glory of God, and Jesus standing at the right hand of God. “Look!” he said. “I see the heavens opened, and the Son of Man standing at the right hand of God!” – Acts 7:55-56
WOW! Stephen was so full of the Holy Spirit that even in his martyr’s death He saw an open heaven. He saw Jesus and the Father.
For Stephen, the story ends great! Sure, He died with a lot of people angry at him, but he was oblivious to them. He wasn’t seeing the jeering crowds. He wasn’t seeing Saul standing on the hill watching his stoning. He may not even have been feeling the large stones crashing in upon him.
Instead, Stephen was having a God moment, a supernatural encounter with heaven, Jesus and God the Father.
There were no second thoughts about what He had said, no retraction statements, no apologies, just the glorious rapture of an open heaven and the welcoming arms of the Father, Son and the Holy Spirit who filled him.
It doesn’t get better than that!
