“Angels came and began ministering to his needs.” – Matthew 4:11

Angels sometimes minister to the needs of people. They ministered to Elijah after His encounter with Jezebel. In the New Testament Book of Hebrews, we are told about ministering angels. I wonder how often we have been ministered to by angels—and we didn’t even know it!

Throughout the time when my youngest son Nathanael was in the hospital, after he had spent 40 minutes with Jesus in heaven, it would look like he was watching things in the hospital room. After we had returned home, one night I was praying over him, and the words that came out of my mouth surprised me.

I prayed, “Lord, let Nathanael’s angels entertain him tonight.” Nathanael was maybe 2 or 3 at the time. As I wondered about the strangeness of my own prayer, Nathanael pushed himself up, looked past the end of his bed and began a long belly laugh that was only matched by his response when His brothers did crazy things to make him laugh. No one was there. He laughed so hard that he ended up curled into a fetal position. After he calmed down, he pushed himself up again and started laughing all over again.

All I could think was, “I wish I could see what you are seeing.” He finally calmed down, and I knew that I had just witnessed a divine encounter. Oh, that I could have seen it all!
