They show that the work of the law is written in their hearts, as their conscience bears witness and their conflicting thoughts accuse or else defend them, – Romans 2:15
God’s voice is just like our conscience. The Spirit of God speaks to our conscience about something and the battle in the mind begins. For example, the Spirit of God speaks to our spirit that watching that show would not be pleasing to God. Then maybe our bad theology tells us that we can do whatever we want when we are in Christ. If we aren’t careful, we may find that everyone else is watching us and the Spirit is no longer in control. We may actually ignore His voice, yet feel that we are serving God.
A Spirit controlled conscience hears the same message by The Spirit of God, and faces the same war. This person begins to battle with their flesh that loves this type of show or program. Their soul may try to justify watching it, and tell them that everyone else watches it. But, they choose to listen to the voice of God speaking through their conscience, and they “Just say NO”.
If we stop and listen to our conscience and do not violate it, we are following the Law of God that is written on our heart. If we resist our conscience and justify our actions, we can bypass our conscience—and it leads to a hard heart and separation from God.
Ask God to give you a Spirit Controlled Conscience and a heart to obey.
