The one who prophesies speaks to people for their strengthening, encouragement, and consolation. – 1 Cor. 14:3

Prophecy is given to do these three things (strengthening, encouragement, consolation): When God gives us a message for others it should normally accomplish one or more of these three things. Even the hard messages of the Old Testament prophets were meant to strengthen and encourage people. If you read the heart of their words, they were encouraging people to turn back to the Lord with all of their heart. Unfortunately, the people usually did not listen, and the consequences were dire.

I am amazed as I listen to God for other people, at the incredible love that He manifests. I know that it is not me when I listen to God for people. I am not nearly as good with words of encouragement, life giving and consolation. The words that flow from heaven impact people’s hearts so deeply. I used to practice something in ministering called, blessing someone’s spirit. I can still do that and it does seem to have a positive impact, but I almost never practice it anymore. When I listen to the voice of God, He blesses their spirit 1000 TIMES MORE THAN MY WORDS EVER COULD. The emphasis is because I cannot say it loud enough or clearly enough.

Lean to listen to God for others. It will astound you what He says, and it will impact both of your lives.
