When they saw the boldness of Peter and John, and discovered that they were uneducated and ordinary men, they were amazed and recognized these men had been with Jesus. Acts 4:13

Peter and John had taken the hand of a man who had been lame for his entire life of 40 years. The man had been miraculously healed, and it had stirred up a crowd. Then the religious leaders had become alarmed and jealous.

The religious leaders put Peter and John on trial. They warned them, threatened them, had them put in jail and beaten. Yet Peter and John had boldness, fearlessness and confidence.

This astonished and shook these men up. It must have been both compelling and repelling at the same time. The confidence these men had and the miracles—and they wouldn’t conform. Why not? Why wouldn’t they just fit in and stop pushing the envelope? They seemed so ordinary, why wouldn’t they be like everyone else?
