The gospel I preached is not of human origin. For I did not receive it or learn it from any human source; instead I received it by a revelation of Jesus Christ. – Galatians 1:11-12
Paul claims Divine origins for his message. Recently I was confronted by someone because I had said that what I was teaching came to me in a vision. They said that I was pulling the God card. The interesting thing is that I had referenced “a ton” of scripture that plainly stated what I was teaching.
It wasn’t till I had this vision that I was even drawn to study or teach on the subject that I ended up teaching. I studied every text on the subject and found that the vision God had given to me opened up the passages for me in a fresh, powerful and simple way. I had read the passages many times but I had always been clouded by some cultural and denominational biases. The passages were hotly debated in a number of circles, and my mind tended to wrestle with the two old paradigms.
Now, by a vision from God I saw the passages in a simpler and more beautiful context, and I was able to read them without the old biases.
I WAS NOT bringing a NEW GOSPEL. I simply wanted people to know that I was not smart enough to have figured out what I was explaining to them. God had divinely revealed something so simple and beautiful to me. Jesus even told us that the Holy Spirit would explain to us everything He had said.
When I need help, the first commentary that I run to is the HOLY SPIRIT.
