“You are blessed, Simon son of Jonah, because flesh and blood did not reveal this to you, but my Father in heaven!” – Matthew 16:17
Jesus told Simon Peter that his acknowledgement that Jesus is Messiah came by revelation from the Father.
Jesus had been telling the disciples who He was, but often times it is not until divine revelation comes that a truth sinks in. Jesus knew that He was not alone, even when it came to discipling these men. The Father was at work in their lives teaching them truth.
Have you learned to hear the Father’s voice? Jesus was teaching his disciples how to hear the Father. It is one of the most foundational facets of making and being a disciple. We must learn how to hear the Lord’s voice. Then we must listen—and ultimately, it all comes down to obeying His voice.
