These signs will accompany those who believe:… they will speak in new languages; – Mark 16:17

What if these really are the words that Jesus spoke?

What if He meant it?

What if Paul really meant it when he said: “I wish you all spoke with tongues.” 1 Cor. 14:5, and “I thank my God I speak with tongues more than you all;” 1 Cor. 14:18

Why would He even say that? Maybe it was because “A person who speaks in tongues is strengthened personally.” (1 Cor. 14:4 NLT)

I don’t know about you, but I need to be strengthened personally—often. In another version it says, “edifies himself.” I also need personal edification. That’s not a word I use every day, but it means to build oneself up spiritually.

I didn’t even know these verses were in the Bible for a large portion of my Christian walk. I thought tongues was something that bad people did.

Don’t tell anyone, but I actually pray in other languages a lot. It really blesses me and impacts my praying a ton. I just don’t want to scare anyone off who still thinks the way I used to.
