For false messiahs and false prophets will appear and perform signs and wonders to deceive, if possible, the elect. – Mark 13:22
It seems as if this is the only verse that some people know in regards to prophecy. THAT’S CRAZY! Jesus wept over a city that killed the prophets. Of the hundreds of passages about prophets and prophecy, and of the hundreds of examples in scripture of prophets, there are only a few mentioned who were false, and only a few warnings.
NEVERTHELESS! The warnings are real and should be taken very seriously. It is important to pray for discernment. Discernment is not the same as fear, and it is not the same as neglect. Silencing the prophetic is not the same as discernment or wisdom, nor does scripture ever encourage doing so.
Signs and Wonders fall into the same category. Use discernment. Signs and wonders are spoken of from Genesis to Revelation. They are a reality in the Kingdom of God. Satan loves to try to counterfeit the real. So, how do we discern?
Learn to hear the voice of God. God, through His Spirit will reveal the true from the counterfeit. Ask God for discernment and learn to hear the Spirit’s voice.
